African Canadian Association of Ottawa (ACAO)
AFRICAN CANADIAN ASSOCIATION is an umbrella organization of all the African descent community organization serving almost 70,000 of Ottawa-Gatineau black population. Founded in 2016, ACAO has grown to become the go to organization dedicated to the causes of the black community. As a Canadian registered charity, ACAO is governed by a 15 member board of directors.
Vision Statement: To empower low-income Black communities by providing access to resources and opportunities, promoting self-sufficiency, and building strong and inclusive communities.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of low-income Black individuals and families. We strive to meet their basic needs, support their personal and professional growth, and create a more equitable and just society.
